Welcome as a new student! Many find it a bit daunting to start a new study, especially if you've just moved to a new country as well!
If you feel like this, just remember that many of the people around you feel the same way, and if you have any questions or need help, you can ask your fellow students or the faculty!

You should do this as soon as possible
Here are some things it would be wise to do before you start your studies.
Go through the checklist on UiBtreet
Deadline: None
On UiBtreet, you will find a checklist for new students as well as other useful tools. To access the checklist, you need to be enrolled as a student at UiB and logged in to your UiB profile.
Apply for supportive services if you need it
Deadline: September 1st
Do you have a disability or other special needs? Read more about supportive services at UiB, and apply for them by September 1st. Do you need accomodations on your first day here? Please contact our Student Information Centre as soon as possible.
Mentor Week program
MONDAY, AUGUST 14
10:00 - 10:45 AM: Official welcome ceremony. The University of Bergen welcomes all new and returning students to a new semester.
6:00 PM - 9:00 PM: Get to know your mentor group.
9:00 PM - 12:00 AM: Welcome Week kickoff at JADA.
TUESDAY, AUGUST 15
5:00 PM - 9:00 PM: "Around the City".
9:00 PM - 12:00 AM: All mentor groups gather at a nightclub.
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 16
2:00 PM - 6:00 PM: "Activity Day".
10:00 PM: Outdoor cinema at the Meteorological Institute.
THURSDAY, AUGUST 17
8:00 PM - 12:00 AM: "MedFak Concert" with a secret artist + afterparty at Kulturhuset (ticket required).
FRIDAY, AUGUST 18
06:00 PM - 10:30 PM: "Hallaien!" a concert for all new students in Bergen, at Koengen (ticket required). Read more here (Norwegian website).
SATURDAY, AUGUST 19
7:00 PM - 9:00 PM: "Apartment-to-Apartment".
9:00 PM - 12:00 AM: All mentor groups gather at Bryggen Nightclub.
SUNDAY, AUGUST 20
5:00 PM - 10:30 PM: "Closing BBQ": Conclusion of Welcome Week; BBQ, prize distribution, and more at Nygårdsparken.
About the mentor activities
The mentor committee at the Faculty of Medicine has planned various activities for new students. Participation in these activities is voluntary, and you can choose to join some while opting out of others.
You can follow the mentor committee on Instagram at fadderukenmed and reach them there if you have any questions about the mentor activities.
