Research interests: My research interests focus mainly on personality, linked to health- or occupational outcomes. The title of my Doctoral Thesis from 2016 summarizes much of my research and ongoing project: “Symptoms of anxiety and depression as risk markers of incident myocardial infarction: Gender-specific risk profiles, personality, and the role of anhedonia. The North-Trøndelag Health Study (HUNT)”.

One of my current research projects involves being a project manager of an epidemiological study on how the use of antidepressant affects the risk of having cardiovascular disease (CVD). This project is collaboration between several institutions, involving amongst others the North-Trøndelag Health study (HUNT). CVD is the leading cause of death among men and women in Europe. One of the aims of this project is to identify gender-specific psychological risk markers, with a focus on sub-types of depression (e.g., anhedonic depression). The study involves linkage between different data sources, including the mortality register and Norwegian Prescription Database.

Another large ongoing research project focuses on personality, sleep, activity, and occupational health. This project includes the use of actigraphy to measure sleep and activity to overcome some of the challenges associated with self-report.
