Teaching Rooms
All units at the University of Bergen (UiB) may book teaching rooms for their internal events. The cost will be charged to the faculty/unit as internal rent for teaching rooms.
Please be aware of the following considerations: Events held outside normal working hours may need additional cleaning, security requirements, etc.
External events or events involving external participants must be booked through the Estate Department – see the dedicated information pages.
Guidelines for the use of facilities outside regular working hours have been developed (link requires connection to the UiB network).
Please note:If teaching rooms are to be used for events, this may affect scheduled teaching. Scheduled teaching always has priority in these rooms. Any relocation or cancellation of scheduled teaching must be approved by the Academic Administration Department.
External Venues
UiB has framework agreements for conferences, offering discounted rates on the hire of conference venues, including conference services. This is a good alternative if you wish to delegate some of the practical arrangements and follow-up.
Other UiB Venues
Other spaces such as canteens and common areas can be booked via the Estate Department.
Conference Services
UiB does not provide conference services when booking or hiring a venue. The organiser is responsible for:
- Checking the condition of the room
- Arranging access
- Setting up tables and chairs (if not cleared by previous users)
- Ordering any additional cleaning required after the event
In teaching rooms managed by the Estate Department, weekly inspections are carried out to identify and address issues such as lighting, ventilation, and furniture repairs.
