Professor Marit Skivenes has received 10 million Norwegian kroner from the Research Council of Norway for her research on child care. The new grant is part of her new research centre, which will bring together world-class researchers in the field of law, child protection and children's rights.
Sait Matty Jaw, who completed his master’s degree this year, held the Student Graduation Speech for an assembly of academic and administrative staff in the University Hall. He currently works as an administrative officer at the University of Gambia, and engages in social activism focusing on human rights and gender equality. Below is a transcript of his speech.
The international research project TROPICO has received support from the EU's programme for research and innovation, Horizon 2020. The project is coordinated by the University of Bergen.
November 1 the project "Adoption as a child welfare measure" is starting up at the Department of Administration and Organization Theory.
Lægreid was given the Ulrich Kloeti-award by the IPSA research committee, Structure and Organization of Government(SOG). Lægreid was given the award for his dedication to governance-research, and for his steadfast work for the committee.

Marit Skivenes and Katrin Križ have been awarded "Best Article" in the journal International Social Work, for the article "Challenges for marginalized minority parents in different welfare systems: Child welfare workers’ perspectives".

Professor Per Lægreid and Post doc Lise H. Rykkja at the University of Bergen have together with Professor Chris Ansell at UC Berkeley been awarded Peder Sæther grant for cooperation on the project “Organizing for Societal Security and Crisis Management.”

On the morning of May 17th we received the sad news that Professor Paul G. Roness had passed away. He was one of "the founding fathers" of the department and played a key role in developing public policy / public administration research, both on the national and international level.

Scandinavian Consortium for Organizational Research (SCANCOR) at Stanford has since 1987 been an important resource for Norwegian and Scandinavian organization researchers. The Center was established as a result of a collaboration between Jim March and Johan P. Olsen. Today it is led by Professor Walter Powell, one of the world's leading organization researchers.
