UiB-lead study shows that simply replacing regular bread with a specially formulated oat β-glucan-enriched bread does not significantly improve long-term blood sugar control.

Jannika Korkeamäki defended her thesis for the PhD-degree at the University of Bergen on the 17th of June 2025. The title of the thesis is: "Development of Multi-Material Nanocomposite Bioinks for Bone Tissue Engineering".
The human genome was sequenced many years ago and our ~20.000 genes are mostly defined. However, a large portion of our proteins, the products encoded by the genes and involved in all biological processes, remain functionally unexplored. University of Bergen researchers recently solved the structure and function of another uncharacterized human protein that turns out be linked to kidney disease.

Ulrik Leidland Opsahl defended his thesis for the PhD-degree at the University of Bergen on the 6th of June 2025. The title of the thesis is: "Measures to improve the treatment effect of oral appliance therapy in obstructive sleep apnea patients".
For the first time, a Nobel Symposium has been dedicated to Multiple Sclerosis (MS), bringing global experts to Stockholm on June 2–5, 2025. Hosted at the Karolinska Institutet, the symposium - “Multiple Sclerosis: From Molecular Mechanisms to Disease-Modifying Treatments” - features leading researchers from Europe and the U.S., including several key members of the EBV-MS consortium.
May 26th marked the kick-off for the doctoral network, gathering Ph.D. candidates from all over the world.
