With all the rain pouring down this autumn, some may already look forward to an equally snow-rich winter as last year's in Western Norway. While the seasonal forecasts have not yet reached a consensus, at least by now some Bjerknes scientists know more about last year's snow.
Prof. Nils-Kåre Birkeland and students Chandini Murarilal Ratnadevi (PhD) and Eliya Cholakova (MSc) from the “Extremophiles and biotechnology” group at the University of Bergen are heading towards Tashkent to meet fellow extremophiles from Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Armenia, Georgia, China and Germany.

The 47th Under Water Mining conference (UMC18) was hosted in Bergen, Grieghallen, from 11th to 14th of September. The conference was organized in collaboration with the K.G. Jebsen Centre for Deep Sea Research (UiB), Global Centres of Expertise Subsea (GCE Subsea) and the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD).
