High-resolution structures of malaria parasite actomyosin and actin filaments (04.04.2022)
Malaria is one of the most devastating infectious diseases in the world. The parasites causing malaria move by gliding, for which force is generated by an unusual actomyosin motor. We have determined high-resolution cryo-EM structures of the parasite actomyosin and actin filaments and a lower resolution reconstructions of the myosin light chains in the complex.

Appetite genes control how children grow (24.03.2022)
Researchers at Center for Diabetes Research, UiB, have found that the weight of babies is controlled by their genes. The findings provide insight into the mechanisms that control appetite and energy metabolism early in life and can help us find better treatment for obesity in adolescence and adulthood.
