The INTPART-II Flagship-course CCBIO907 Cancer-Related Vascular Biology took place in Bergen March 24th to March 31st 2023, with fortunate students from UiB and a couple of visiting students from abroad who got the opportunity to learn from and connect with excellent Harvard Medical School faculty on campus in Bergen.
During the conference on "Pandemic, diversity and social inequality" in Bergen in October, researchers started working on a declaration based on knowledge and experiences from the pandemic. The declaration has now been published and is open to read.

Trond Mohn Foundation and the University of Bergen are launching three research projects worth a total of 40 million Norwegian kroner for research for more trustworthy systems for artificial intelligence (AI).

In March, we had a Drug Discovery meeting to showcase the research that is going on Bergen and to connect the groups active in this area. Nearly 50 people had signed up of the meeting and we had 9 different talks covering topics from target discovery all the way to clinical trials.

The second excellent news of the day was that Jane and Aatos Erkko foundation in Finland has decided to support our work with a whole 842000 € in the next three years. Today brought some pretty awesome news. The first came in the wee hours, telling that Henni's collaborative paper with Maddy Dans from the lab of Paul Gilson from the Burnet Institute (and a number of other collaborators) was accepted for publication in PLoS Biology. Tiny nanoparticles are found in everything from toothpaste to paint, but how harmful are these particles to humans? On March 30th, UiB is organizing a workshop on nanosafety where this will be put on the agenda.
Barsha Pathak from India was among those who attended the course in implementation science in global health.
Last week, we got two small positive funding decisions, as we got consumable and travel money both from the Meltzer Foundation (100000 NOK) and the UiB General Medical Fund (76720 NOK). Many thanks for both foundations for continuing to support our work!
The Pandemic Center travelled to Bruxelles to gain insight on EU funded grants in pandemics and disaster preparedness.
The Pandemic Center is looking for a postdoctoral who will develop and carry out a research-project related to pandemics. The project will extend over a period of 3 years and involve work across disciplines.

Wind energy has a very high potential for improvement, especially with regard to wake effects of the turbines within large wind farms. This work focuses the emphasis on potential of aerodynamically optimized wind park layouts and wake steering through yaw angle control.
