Many proteins have the Golgi apparatus as their favorite hangout place. For N-terminal acetyltransferases (NATs), however, this is a rather unique characteristic as only one NAT, Naa60, was shown to localize to intracellular organelles.

UiB scientists have found the lampshell’s ancient forefather, and discovered that the shells and bristles of the lampshells have a much older origin than priveously thought. The results are published in the scientific journal PNAS.

First dCod workshop (02.01.2017)
The first workshop in the dCod 1.0 project was organized at Voss during a busy December month. 22 participants from all Norwegian partners participated in discussions, cross-disciplinary crash courses, and teambuilding.

In connection with T. Frede Thingstad becoming Professor Emeritus at the University of Bergen from 2017, a seminar was held at the University of Bergen and Hjort Centre for Marine Ecosystem Dynamics on December 2nd to bring Frede’s work into an international perspective and celebrate his professional and collegial achievements.

Five new research projects to scientists at Geophysical Institute (09.12.2016)
In the programme FRINATEK, the research counsil distributed 251 mill. NOK on 32 new research projects. Four of these are for researchers at Geophysical Institute. We also got one of five projects in the programme Polarprog.
